The Hillsboro Balloon Festival web page shows what's happening. The balloons fly in July from Grimes Field in downtown Hillsboro, NH.
Balloon festivals are the best way to experience ballooning up close. The excitement of all the balloons inflating and launching together touches everyone from 2 to 92. You can reach out and touch the balloons, talk with the pilots and crew, and take lots of colorful photos. A great place to take a balloon ride. Here's some of our favorites:

XLTA -- Experimental Balloon Meet Pre-registration REQUIRED to visit. May 16-18. The largest gathering of unusual and homebuilt balloons and airships. In Amherst, Massachusetts with variable launch sites.
Vermont Balloon & Music Festival This popular Essex Junction, Vermont event has been cancelled. (near Burlington)
Quechee Balloon Festival June 13-15 in Quechee, VT. Festival and Craft Fair held just upstream from the Quechee Gorge. Well laid out web page.
High Hopes This Milford, NH. Benefit for the High Hopes Foundation is no longer held.
Hillsboro Balloon Festival July 10-13 in Hillsboro, NH. Fun festival set in an historic town. Check out their balloon festival balloon festival website.
Stoweflake Balloon Festival July 11-13 in Stowe, VT. Dramatic flights among the Green Mountains in this classic resort town. 22nd Year!
Green River Festival July 18-20 in Greenfield, MA, includes extensive musical entertainment. Website.

Hudson Elks Balloon Festival August 8-10 in Hudson, MA. Fun event with family entertainment in central Massachusetts.
Great Falls Balloon Festival August 16-18 in Lewiston & Auburn, ME. Maine's only balloon festival features Special Shaped Balloons and great community spirit. Great Falls website.
Atlantic Balloon Fiesta September 5-7 in Sussex, New Brunswick, Canada. Beautiful valleys, friendly people and lots of covered bridges. The Balloon Fiesta website.
Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta October 4-12 in Albuquerque, NM. World's largest balloon festival with over 700 balloons flying together.
